Barcelona 2019 Robotics&Videogames Meeting

Next Saturday, May 4th, the 6th edition of Robotics & Videogames Meeting Barcelona 2019 returns to Barcelona. In this edition, we will be featuring our new venue at Learnlife Barcelona Barcelona Learning Innovation Center (Carrer d’Enric Granados, 7, 08007 Barcelona). Camp Tecnológico will once again open its doors to families with children aged 4 to 17 at absolutely no cost.

The main objective of the event is to promote scientific and technological vocations for young learners, introducing and highlighting beginning English language activities in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics).

Learners will be able to participate in a wide variety of activities such as workshops in robotics, electronics and programming as well as Show Zones with drones, Lego, 3D printers, and virtual reality with Unity 3D. All of these STEAM-related activities will be adapted to the specific age of participants.

All of the educational, technological and robotic novelties featured at Robótics & Videogames Meeting Barcelona 2019 will also be offered as programmed activities during our Campamentos de Verano 2019. These Camp Tecnológico camps are designed to provide a wide variety of day-camp Campamentos Urbanos technological workshops at different Barcelona locations as well as sleepover Con Alojamiento opportunities such as Bilbao (Sopelana-Surf) and Valle de Arán (Les Pirineos-English-Deportes de Aventura). From Late June through early September, youngsters from 4 to 17 years of age can select from and enjoy as many of our educational technology workshops as they wish.

The event will take place at Learnlife Barcelona (Carrer d’Enric Granados, 7, 08007 Barcelona)

Event Workshops, Schedule and Registration

The event, which is totally cost free, consists of 45-minute workshops (broken down by age) and a 45-minute Show Zone for all ages to feature the very latest in new technologies.

At the Show Zone, parents and accompanying adults will have the opportunity to participate in a 15-minute chat explaining the different activities offered by Camp Tecnológico in its Barcelona locations as well as at its sleepover locations in Valle de Aran and Bilbao. In addition, there will be plenty of information about afternoon activities and weekend clubs that are offered in Barcelona throughout the academic year.

WORKSHOPS

The workshops are divided by age groups to accommodate learners from 4 to 17. In addition, we are featuring a new Girls&Tech circuit, aimed at strengthening the presence of girls and young women in the world of technology. Participants will need to fill out a registration form selecting the desired circuit according to the age of each learner.

Kids

Kids&Tech Workshop

The youngsters will learn through play and concepts of sequential logic. Using the playmats, the learners will guide the various robots – Beebot, Mouse and Magcoding – to move through the different game sequences, find a way out of the labyrinth, activate sounds and lights, as well as explore the robot Dash&Dot.

Junior Workshop

Mabot: learners will build and program fun robots with this modular system. Mabot is an incredible robotic system that allows kids to use modular components to create robots. Also, through a programming system made for tablets, learners can control motors and sensors that determine the robots movements.

Girls&Tech Workshop

Programming Cozmo the robot. This all purpose robot is really fun to play with, and learners will see how, thanks to its integrated camera, Como knows where to find the cubes that make up the rest of the game. It can grab and pile the cubes, and it can recognise people that are nearby.

Although this workshop is aimed at attracting girls to technology, boys are also welcome to sign up and discover Cozmo as well

9-14 years

Genius Workshop

Tokymaker: with this programmable electronic card, learners will make an ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT) approximation. IoT is the world that awaits us in which things interconnect in order to make our lives easier.

Explorer Workshop

The Future Factory: with the Dobot Magician robotic arm we have all the elements that will make up the factories of the future and Industry 4.0. Thanks to its accessories, it can move pieces, run along a rail, recognise pieces with its camera and AI. It can also print in 3D or record with a laser. This is a true immersion to understand how industrial robots function.

Show Zone:

  • Robot Moway, robots that follow light
  • Robot Jansen, a sculpture that moves and can be programmed
  • Realidad virtual con HTC Vive, painting in a 3-dimensional space
  • 3D printing and how it works
  • Drones with simulators, complete the circuit
  • Construction space with Lego for the youngest learners

New Workshop Zone Show: Scientific Workshop: Creates microscope.

The cellphone is a tool that has many uses in the classroom. With the help of a lens it is possible to create a low cost microscope. In this workshop, participants will learn to use the Microscope Smartphone, which has been well received by the teaching public during the YOMO2019.
